This guided notes page teaches factoring trinomials using grouping. There are a lot of different ways to factor, but I've had the most success with this method because it works in all cases. Grouping uses students' understanding of greatest common factor. This method can be used to factor trinomials, regardless of if a=1 or a is not 1, and it can be used to factor difference of squares. It takes the guess work out of "Which method do I use to factor?" and builds on conceptual understanding!
