I taught grade 5 last year and I am currently teaching grade 2. I LOVE IT! I find it very fulfillng to be teaching the fundamental skills that students must use and build on the rest of their lives. It is so amazing to be able to do something every single day that I love!
A 5 lesson unit plan for primary students to teach them more about the celebration of thanksgiving and the differences in how people celebrate it. Correlated to B.C IRP with Planned Learning Outcomes listed on each lesson but if you are not in BC, you can still use the unit plan. . Unit comes with 3 worksheets to use with the students.
After learning about simple and compound machines, you can assess the students knowledge by having them create a compound machine. Students create their own machine, name it and label the simple machines that make it. Then, they write about what their compound machine does and how it would make word easier.
A lesson plan outline to keep your lessons organized. It has spaces for you to fill out grade, teacher, preperation needed before the lesson, materials, procedure, assessment and more.
This form is great for the organized teacher trying to keep track of money paid by the students for class field trips. I usually tape it to the front of a large envelope, write my students names on and then simply check by their name when they have paid. You can also use it in your teacher planner or hang it on the wall or bulletin board for quick keeping track and a reminder of who you still need money from.
I use this class sign on my bulletin boards to let parents know which work is from which class. Simply fill in the lines in the document with your own information and staple onto your bulletin board!
Here is a great poster to have your students fill out and colour. The students have to create their own healthy meal that includes at least one thing from every food group! At the bottom they must check off that their meal has all the necessary food groups and then write a sentence about why their meal is healthy.
This is a great vocabulary activity for students to increase their knowledge on difficult words in a reading. This allows for students at all levels to challenge themselves and learn words they did not previously know.
Ways to Use it :
- Home Reading Logs where students can do this activity based on their own books
- As part of a novel study to study new vocabulary
- As a post silent reading activity
- As part of a buddy reading activity
Or....ANY other way you can think of!!!

Teaching style
I love students to do the exploring and learning for themselves as much as possible. I find it allows them to really make a personal connection with what they are learning. I try to use many manipulatives and make learning as fun and relateable to their lives as much as possible!
