Experience

I’m entering my 14th year of teaching high school English in a public school in Bergen County, NJ. I currently teach juniors and seniors across all levels, including College Prep, Honors, and AP courses. My focus is on American literature and helping students grow as thoughtful, confident writers. I guide them through a variety of writing styles—descriptive, expository, persuasive, narrative, technical, and poetic—while fostering critical thinking, introspection, and authentic expression.

Teaching style

I strive to create a respectful, inclusive, and engaging classroom where students feel confident sharing their ideas and asking insightful questions. In my English 11 Honors and AP Seminar classes, we focus on critical thinking, thoughtful dialogue, and meaningful research. Whether we’re diving into literature, writing essays through a step-by-step process, or creating multimodal projects and presentations, my students learn to think deeply and express themselves clearly. Through Socratic discussions and collaborative activities, my students explore diverse perspectives to grow as confident learners.

My own education history

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Education with a minor in Creative Writing from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. I then completed my Master of Arts in Teaching of English (for in-service teachers) at Columbia University in New York. I graduated summa cum laude from both institutions. In the past summer, I participated in the Drew Writing Project—an affiliate of the National Writing Project—where experienced educators came together to read, write, learn, and develop workshops for fellow teachers.
