Hold students more accountable for their writing. The teacher and student both grade and discuss their writing together. This rubric allows for the student to set new writing goals and note words they need to practice. I included a line for a parent's signature as well. I use this when meeting one on one with each student after they complete each writing assignment. I staple a copy to their writing and keep in a writing portfolio made for each student.
