This lab is a hands-on way for students to experience how sedimentary rocks from the rock cycle are made. Students will simulate the process using gram crackers and sugar water. Students will also observe how a mixture of materials settles into layers. Download includes: materials list, student sheets, and answer key. Store name - Mrsaruff
In this activity, students will follow written and oral directions. The written directions have a little trick that the students find entertaining. They will then complete a reflection about their performance and why following directions is important.
Students will practice making qualitative and quantitative observations about rocks. They will then select one rock and use observations to identify their pet rock from all others. Store - Mrs Ruff
Students will use the scientific method to test a hypothesis about why some types of canned soda sink while other float. Instructions and student sheet is included. Store - Mrs Ruff
In this lab students will use mass and volume to find the density of 7 teacher selected objects. They will then test if the objects sink or float in water. Finally, the students will find the relationship between density and objects that sink and objects that float in water. Analysis question are included so students can show their understanding.
In this activity students will use craft sticks and glue to make a structure. They will then write an accurate produce so the structure can be rebuilt. Finally, students will identify key components to a good procedure.
