Goals: By the end of this lesson, students will have practiced using the formulas for the volume of a sphere and volume of a cylinder, and they will have practiced solving literal equations. This includes solving equations with fractions and cubes. They will also have a better understanding of the meaning of volume, by mean

Experience

This is my 4th year teaching at a public high school in North Carolina. I have taught Introduction to High School Math (pre Math 1), Algebra 1-A, Algebra 1-B, Foundations of Advanced Algebra (pre Algebra 2), CC Math 1-A, CC Math 1-B, Honors CC Math III.

Teaching style

I lecture minimally and like to get the students to discover patterns and formulas on their own. I also like to play and develop games that boost mathematical understanding.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Recipient of the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship.

My own education history

I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University (an excellent STEM school).

Additional biographical information

I mostly teach Math 1 and (HN) Math III. I also love games!
