Bubbles: Task on volume and solving literal equations.
Students will be perplexed and engaged as they figure out how big COULD they blow a bubble in one breath? Lots of student involvement. Low-floor, high-ceiling. Lots of fun!
Goals: By the end of this lesson, students will have practiced using the formulas for the volume of a sphere and volume of a cylinder, and they will have practiced solving literal equations. Experience
This is my 4th year teaching at a public high school in North Carolina. I have taught Introduction to High School Math (pre Math 1), Algebra 1-A, Algebra 1-B, Foundations of Advanced Algebra (pre Algebra 2), CC Math 1-A, CC Math 1-B, Honors CC Math III.
Teaching style
I lecture minimally and like to get the students to discover patterns and formulas on their own. I also like to play and develop games that boost mathematical understanding.

I graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics Education from North Carolina State University (an excellent STEM school).
