Randomly select a letter in the alphabet and have students brainstorm a word that applies to each question. Set a timer (e.g. 2 minutes) and see if anyone can come up with unique answers that no one else has. For each unique answer, one point is awarded.
Students work in pairs with a whiteboard and marker. One student selected a card. They look at the pattern rule on the back and create their own pattern following that rule. They write their pattern on the whiteboard. Their partner needs to figure out what the pattern rule is.
Learning about probability? Do your students enjoy math centres? Then this is for you! Four math centres using popular games: 1) Rock, Paper, Scissors 2) Twister 3) Go Fish and 4) Pig. Students fill out the accompanying worksheets as they rotate centres.
Working in partners, students pick different game sheets. Students mark their spots with a counter. Students play rock, paper, scissors. Winner moves their counter up one spot and answers the conversion question. If they are correct, they stay where they are. If they are wrong, they move back one space. First player to the top, wins.
Game deals with converting metres to centimetres and kilometres to metres.
Have students research the following European Explorers and complete the postcards. Map is included on last page for students to indicate voyages. Can print double-sided (explorer information on side 1, map on side 2) on cardstock.

Go on a road trip across Canada with your class. Students can do presentations on each of the provinces/territories and then have the rest of the class complete the passport booklet as they go along. Add stamps for the provinces they go to and you're done!
