This assessment task will provide information on whether your students can complete addition and subtraction sums that do and do not involve renaming. There is a teacher checklist on the bottom of the page so you can clearly identify the children who need help with a particular skill.

This activity involves a range of mathematical skills based around a pet rock. I had my children paint their pet rock before we started the activities. There are some great images of pet rocks on the internet. Activities include: Mass Addition Subtraction Less/Greater than Ordering from lightest to heaviest Length Area Perimeter Print and make into a book.
