This two-part activity helps students analyze an opinion essay and then write their own supported opinion paragraph. In Activity 1, students identify the author’s opinion, locate reasons and examples, and explain how evidence supports the writer’s point. In Activity 2, they use clear scaffolds to state an opinion, give reasons, add an example, and wrap up their thinking.
