I have been teaching for 32 years and during that time have taught 1-8th grade self contained, English, Social Studies, ESL, and math (my favorite). Most of those years have been in Texas except for 2 years in Portugal.
This set of 10 puzzles challenges students to use a picture to determine the matching ratio in fraction, decimal and percent form. The set of puzzles can be used in a center for individual work or with pairs and teams. Ideas for using the puzzles as games are included. Ratios represented are part to part as well as part to whole.
One of my favorite activities at the end of the year is my “Face Measurement” activity. It’s lots of fun but educational as well. The kids enjoy the process and there’s always a lot of laughter as they watch their face unfold.
I came up with this idea in order to give my students an extra visual as they classified numbers. This is a foldable and a way to use a number line to help with the classifcation.

Teaching style
I love to teach in ways that get the kids up and out of their seats and having fun. I try to think of ways to make some of the abstract mathematical ideas more down to earth for the kids so that they can understand them better.
