About the store

Experience

I have taught middle school math for 7 years. I started off teaching 6th , 7th, and 8th grade. After teaching my first year I realized I enjoyed teaching 7th grade. I have taught 7th grade for most of my teaching career.

Teaching style

I enjoy creating lessons that allow creativity and hands on learning. I start off each lesson with guided Math Memos that allow the teach to work out an example followed by an independent practice question. Allowing to check for understanding. After the guided notes the students will brake into groups and explore the lesson with a group activity I created called Solve and Slide. It allows each student to work on 4 different problems independently. There are 4 question rounds with a timer set for 2 minuets for each round to answer each question. Each student will solve 1 of the 4 questions per round. At the end of each round the students, without talking or discussing their work, will slide their question card to the right. Once all 4 round of questions are complete the students will then discuss their answers using the sentence stem provided. They will collaborate one at a time to determine the correct answer. Lastly, I have created classroom transformation activities, where you convert your room into a different themes and the students explore the lesson through games, group assignments/activities. This allows the students to use real world examples. They always look forward to this activity and the prizes they are able to win.
