Teaching style

I believe in a student-centered, hands-on teaching approach that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity. I integrate Montessori principles with structured literacy, creating an environment where students can engage with materials and lessons in a meaningful way. I incorporate movement, play, and interactive projects into daily learning, ensuring that each child is actively involved in their education. I also value bilingual literacy, providing activities that nurture language development in both English and Korean. Whether it’s through storytelling, art, or inquiry-based learning, I strive to make every lesson engaging and meaningful.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I have received recognition for my commitment to students’ growth and my innovative teaching methods. Some of my proudest moments include teaching and incorporating the arts in a lasting and memorable way, ensuring that creativity and self-expression are central to my students' learning experiences.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Biola University. Throughout my studies, I focused on special education, which laid the foundation for my teaching philosophy. I also continuously pursue professional development through workshops, conferences, and specialized training, including programs such as Facing History, GLAD, and Art Education. Education is a lifelong journey for me, and I remain committed to growing as an educator to provide the best possible learning experiences for my students.

Additional biographical information

Outside of teaching, I have a passion for digital work and crafting, which I bring into my classroom to inspire students. I work at an arts magnet school, where I incorporate a focus on the arts into my lessons, blending creativity with core subjects to foster well-rounded student development. I enjoy spending my free time with my family, friends, and pet Brownie, and I often incorporate personal experiences and stories into my lessons to build connections with my students.
