Print this activity to have create students write the irregular stems and ending of preterite past tense verbs on the pattern of a daisy like flower. They will staple or tape/glue the flower petals (endings) and stems together to create a flower (which can also be decorated) which they can later use to study these irregular forms.
Has been a successful activity for students that engage in hands-on work. Page 1 models the placement of irregular endings & stems. Page 2 is the blank template.
Students (not teacher) should carefully cut out the pieces of this puzzle and either mix and then reassemble them on their own or in pairs working together. One class may cut out the activity for another class after completing the puzzle. Students will need to glue or tape the puzzle pieces to an 8/5 X 11" paper--completing that step does take more time than you probably expect.
