Sweet Experiments- Golden Sponge Cakes Lab
This lab report includes reading comprehension to allow students to explore a website that shows multiple experiments done on golden sponge cakes. Using Twinkies ©, students create their own experiment to discover how chemical and physical reactions affect the sweet treat.
First day: Students explore the website to learn more about how the cakes respond to physical and chemical changes.

I was nominated and featured in the 2013 Center for Digital Education (CDE) Yearbook Issue, a magazine that showcases innovative teaching techniques using technology. I was one of fifty educators chosen based on an independent study I completed to integrate intercultural communication with technology while focusing on standards. All of the software and internet programs used for this study were free, open use and allowed the students to establish pen pals in Pakistan. I presented at the Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organizations’ Spring Conference Roundtables in March 2013 for this study.
