When I started teaching, many of my students didn't know about the Challenger explosion and new little about the space race. I created "The Space Unit" and it quickly became everyone's favorite. This bundle provides video instruction an a research paper with rubric.

The Ultimate Chemical Reactions Set

Created by
Physics Hawk
This includes instructional videos about counting atoms, interpreting equations, balancing equations, and identifying reactions. But wait, there's more. It also includes practice sheets and games for those same topics.
Preview of Gas Laws Set

Gas Laws Set

Created by
Physics Hawk
This includes videos with instruction about the concepts of Charles' and Boyle's Laws, a video of me working out some gas law math problems, and some practice problems for your students (with the key).

Lab Equipment Video

Have you ever noticed that students call every piece of glass in the lab a beaker? That's because movies and TV shows with school labs do it too. Yet, each piece of lab equipment was designed with a purpose. It's important for students to know the names of equipment and what their purpose is so they can use them for the right tasks. This video could be used as a homework assignment for classroom flipping. Or it could be assigned to a student who was absent the day you taught the material in

Physical Science Review Song Video

Created by
Physics Hawk
This song helps students remember a lot of the chemistry content from physical science. This includes a document with the lyrics and a video of me singing the song so the words and tune can be easily matched.

We teach the scientific method to kids almost every year, but do they know how to tell the difference between good scientific experiments and bad ones. This video focuses on the double blind controlled experiment.

Lab Safety Video

Physics Hawk
If you want to assign lab safety explanations as homework, this is a great option. It's also good for students who were absent on the day you talked about it in class. It covers the ten most essential topics (that I call the 10 Commandments of Lab Safety).

Color Mixing with Light and Pigment

You learned your primary colors in art, but when you look at your printer cartridge, there are different primary colors. And, it gets even weirder when it comes to mixing colors of light. This video provides a brief explanation.

The Doppler Effect

Created by

The sound made by a racecar as it passes is related to how we track tornados. We also use it to trace blood flow in arteries. The Doppler effect has a lot of uses. There is a separate video for the math, so this video can be used for both lower and upper level physical science classes.

This video is aimed at middle school physical science, so it does not include the math of collisions. While this video is good for physics as well, you might want to pair it with the Calculating Conservation of Momentum video that shows the math.

Mars Mission?

Created by
Physics Hawk
Will it be harder or easier to get to Mars than it was to get to the moon? In many ways, the answer to both questions is yes. We have better technology now, but the moon stays near us while Mars does not. It's a very different mission. In this video, I walk students through what it would take for us to get to Mars.

NASA 70's to 2000s

Created by

When teaching this unit, I focused on the Apollo era and then talked about the future. But NASA was busy between the time they landed on the moon and now, so I gave my students this video to watch as a bridge between the two focus points I was using during class.

Additional biographical information

Teaching during the pandemic was hard. In fact, it was the hardest thing I've ever done. But, it did require me to digitize some things I hadn't before and to evaluate test questions as I moved them over to digital platforms, ultimately resulting in better questions. You can benefit from that work here.
