Teaching style

My teaching philosophy has evolved through my experience, and it can be described with the phrase: "Less is more". Because we cannot always be at our best while teaching, we direct our focus toward the act of teaching itself and as such we don't often pay enough attention to how learners take-in knowledge from a pedagogical point of view. Ensuring students have ample time pondering information before moving on to the next tip is the biggest advantage to this approach. This approach has its flaws and may not work for all subjects, such as those that require memorization or "cramming" of information as in the case of studying for a test. On the other hand, if teaching history, for example, a proper approach might be "story-telling" rather than telling what happened in an abstract form. While this method may sound like it would not work for classes with multiple proficiency levels, it gives those students the opprtunity to expand thinking of the subject, by reflecting and drawing more conclusions.
