About the store
I have taught 26 years in the pubic school system in Georgia. I have been a self contained classroom teacher for Kindergarten,1st,and 2nd grades. The last six years, I have been fortunate to work in a collaborative setting, where I work with regular education students, students needing Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and special education students. This experience has given me the opportunity to serve on our system and school SST committees. I have served on our schools leadership team for seven years.

Experience

I have taught 26 years in the pubic school system in Georgia. I have been a self contained classroom teacher for Kindergarten,1st,and 2nd grades. The last six years, I have been fortunate to work in a collaborative setting, where I work with regular education students, students needing Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and special education students. This experience has given me the opportunity to serve on our system and school SST committees. I have served on our schools leadership team for seven years.

Teaching style

My goal is to help students love learning, love school and stay motivated. I feel my teaching style keeps students engaged and motivated. My teaching style is a combination of a demonstrator and facilitator. I always start lessons by modeling how to work through a task. I quickly like to pass the challenge off to my students to work as groups or with partners to work through complex task or solve problems. I try to modify all lessons to meet the needs of individual student learning styles and levels. I use a combination of new and old researched based strategies. I don't let go of strategies that have proven to work.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was chosen Teacher of the Year in 2000. I was excited to be asked to present at the state SSTAGE conference in 2013 and 2014 (sharing promising practices) where our committee's presentation won the STAR award for 2013.

My own education history

I received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia with a major in Early Childhood Education. I earned a Masters of Arts from Piedmont College.
