For the over the past 10 years, I have taught Composition and Grammar at the middle school, high school, and college remedial level. Prior to teaching, I worked in Public Relations prior to teaching. In addition, I have an Ed.S in Teaching and Learning.
Along with classroom teaching, helping my own children with their homework has challenged me to develop new methods of explaining grammar concepts.

Writing Effective Conclusions
Frequently, students ask, "What do I write in my conclusion?" So, I created a short, to the point powerpoint to show students what "ingredients " go into a conclusion. The conclusion I use is for an informational or expository paper; however, it can easily be tailored for an argumentative or persuasive paper.

Discovery Lists - Parts Of Speech
Students become grammar detectives with Discovery Lists - Parts of Speech. A Discovery List is a teaching strategy I learned about in college many years ago, and I have created this particular one using the 8 Parts of Speech. Each slide contains two columns, Column A and Column B. Students analyze the underlined words in each column and determine which Part of Speech is used in each column. Teaching style
Students are individuals, and I try to meet each one where they are in their educational journey. I spend a lot of time trying to find creative ways to explain grammar and writing concepts so that students will actually get and own these skills.
