"Basic" to College Prep level quiz on solving equations with radicals. Two problems involve quadratics, several with extraneous solutions, several using rational exponent notation, and a problem connecting the solutions of an equation to the graph of the two "sides" of the equation.
Activity guides students from a basic understanding of average rate of change to an introductory understanding of instantaneous rate of change and the "limit" derivative definition. Students should have a working understanding of at least the concept of a limit.
