Thank you for visiting my store! I am a 30 year veteran of teaching in the music classroom. My experience includes instrumental music, vocal music and general music, grades K-8. Do your beginning violin, viola, cello and bass players struggle with note reading? Many of mine do. I created a resource to help these students better understand how to read and finger notes in the D major scale. Many beginning orchestra pieces are based on the D major scale and this worksheet with help them become better acquainted with reading, fingering and playing these notes. I have used this in my classroom with music success. I hope that it helps your students as well!

Get students up and moving around the classroom with this Music Math Scavenger Hunt resource. Students can work on reading and adding various rhythm note and rest values in standard notation. This can be done individually or in cooperatively in groups. Just download, print, cut out and laminate if using over and over. Post cards around the room and student use the answer recording sheet to find the next card. Lots of fun!

Experience

Thank you for visiting my store! I am a 30 year veteran of teaching in the music classroom. My experience includes instrumental music, vocal music and general music, grades K-8. The vast majority of my career has been in elementary instrumental music, teaching 4th and 5th graders the joys of playing band and orchestra instruments.

Teaching style

Music should be for music's sake. I work to individualize my instruction and develop a relationship with each of my students. I am laid back and love to have fun.

My own education history

I have a B.A in Music Education, Pre-K-12 from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV; Masters of Music Education from Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA; and my Educational Leadership/Administrative Certification from Hood College in Frederick, MD. I have my Advanced Professional Certification in Music K-12 and Administration I/II from the state of Maryland and am a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood, Music, Band.
