Here is the Answer Key to the Notes. These notes are meant to be cut and placed in a composition notebook. They follow the NC Standard Course of Study for 6th grade. I use the "Matter side first." When we get to the atom, I show an example of an atom (usually Carbon) on the active board to discuss the parts of an atom. Science is best when mixed with hands-on and high rigor vocabulary and writing activities. I use high-yield teaching strategies, such as turn-and-talks and stand-and-talks, as well as essential questions and graphic organizers.
