Shapes and Equal Shares Assessment
This assessment is based on the Common Core Standards for second grade. The assessment itself is two pages long. The entire product is five pages including an attractive title page, a standards reference page, and a scoring guide. Each standard on the reference page is color coded to match the standards listed on each question as well as the scoring guide at the end of the assessment. Experience
In my first year of teaching (2012-2013) I taught part time in a fourth grade classroom. My focus was language and writing. I am now in my second year of teaching second grade full time. I really enjoy the age group!
Teaching style
I have used Daily Five for both years in second grade and could not imagine teaching any other way! It truly helps students become passionate readers and writers. Although whole group learning is important, I choose to teach in small groups as much as possible. I find I am better able to cater to each student's learning style.
My own education history
I attended Kaskaskia College for two years, then transferred to Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.
Additional biographical information
This summer I will be traveling to Uganda to teach in a primary school for nine weeks! I am very excited!
