About the store

Experience

I have been teaching in Texas over 30 years. The first 13 were in elementary school (grades 1, 3, and 4). The last 20+ I have been teaching 6th grade math. I have taught On Level (6th grade curriculum), Accel (6th and 7th grade curriculum), and Gifted and Talented (6th through 8th grade curriculum). I really love the 6th graders and where they are in their development.

Teaching style

I am a very organized hands-on teacher. I use interactive journals to teach the materials, games for practice, and music for transitions. The kids know my expectations and we have a great time learning to love math.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have no awards and do not seek any. I love being in the classroom and helping others in the classroom. I hate being called out for anything good or bad. My goal is to always fly under the radar.

My own education history

I went to school at University of Texas, in Arlington and started my teaching in Arlington. As love would have it, I moved to Austin as a 30 year old and have spent my time teaching in the Austin area and raising my two boys here.

Additional biographical information

I love baseball, coffee, and teaching!
