As a teacher leader in her school district, Kelly is implementing SPARCSS, a district-wide initiative to build excellence-focused, good practices to prepare students for successful futures in higher education and in their careers. She also works to enhance the performance of in-service teachers as an instructor at a local university.

Awards & shining teacher moments
Among her awards, Kelly is the recipient of the International Literacy Association’s Reading and Technology Award for classroom technology integration, the Nila Banton Smith Award for developing a program for helping teachers implement literacy strategies into their content area classes, and the Pedagogical Innovation Award for her use of technologies in university-level curriculum design.
