Spring Into First Grade

Students will use apple jacks to help practice adding 2 numbers. Very easy to differentiate to meet your needs.

Students match the addition number sentence with the correct ten frame. Can be played as matching or memory. Cars are great for centers, small group, or interventions. There are 12 matches. Please let me know if you would like other sets.

Students will get to practice subtracting two numbers using candy corn as manipulatives. The candy corns are position upside down to remind students that the bigger number must go first. There is a blank side to allow student to write their own problems. Perfect activity for Fall or Halloween.

Students will practice addition facts by sorting pieces to build a hamburger and than recording answers. Included: 9 Hamburgers 2 answers sheets (colored and black/white)

Before playing project image on to a screen in your classroom. (Smartboard, projector, overhead) Need: Flashcards (addition or subtraction) with the sum or difference between 0-12 Fly swatters (2-3, depending on number of teams or students) Options: Fact Practice: divide the class up into 2 or 3 teams. Students will LOVE practicing their fact families and math facts with this activity. Idea:Use conversation hearts if students need manipulatives. Before: Cut/Laminate/Separate the hearts and envelopes. The envelopes with the numbers are so students can keep track of what numbers go with which family.
