This is a winter circumference, radius, and diameter project I made for my fifth grade class. It involves measuring parts of a snowman. If you are using it to teach, you could work on the project as a class. If you are using it as a review or assessment, then you could assign it for a home project or for independent math centers. Students should be familiar with finding the measurements of a circle's diameter, radius, and circumference. Students should also be familiar with rounding to the neare
This project was created for my fifth grade class as an end of the unit project for a real-world application of adding fractions. In this project, students demonstrate their knowledge of: -Adding Whole Numbers -Adding Fractions -Adding Mixed Numbers I brought in some cookbooks to get my class excited about the project, and a few of them borrowed cookbooks from the school’s library. Students had exactly two weeks to complete the project. Be careful of students who decide to “create their own” re
February is Black History Month! I made this project for my fifth grade class, and they enjoyed creating their posters. Included is: - A list of researchable African American achievers categorized by their fields of achievement (science, medical, music, etc.). The list of achievers is gender balanced and includes a mix of contemporary and historical people of importance. - An example of each objective that students are required to meet to while creating their poster projects. - A rubric to help
This is a list that I post near the door in my classroom, so that students know which bus they are on, and what days they go to the after school program. I laminate them, then write names on with a black Sharpie. If something changes, I use a lysol wipe to remove the Sharpie.
These are study guides and quizzes I created for Investigation 1 (Parts 1, 2, 3, and 4) of Mixtures and Solutions.
There are two quizzes (each with a corresponding study guide). One quiz covers the first lab, and the second quiz covers the second, third, and fourth lab. There are also two modified quizzes for IEP students.
I like to keep grading simple, so each question is worth ten points for 100 points total.

I used to shell out about $60 every month to throw a pizza party for my Homework Club, then I realized that my students were just as happy with ice cream sandwiches that cost $5 for a box of 25.
Using this principle, I came up with some other fun and inexpensive parties to replace those expensive pizza parties! I like being organized and prepared, so I made these posters and tickets to use in my own classroom. I don’t use ALL of the parties, we only have about 7 per year, but it’s nice to have

I assign short 3-4 line poems to my fifth grade class (e.g. Shel Silverstein). They have a choice in what poem they are assigned. They are responsible for memorizing and practicing the poem at home. I use this rubric to assess the students as they present their poems to the class. Credit for the frame goes to https://openclipart.org/user-detail/j4p4n and is licensed under Creative Commons.

I teach fifth grade. On the very first day of school, I put this two-sided survey on their desk with a sharpened pencil. The minute kids come in, they get started on filling it out.
I use this valuable time to take attendance and make sure everyone is in the right room, as well as the correct seat.
Later, I have a some great information that helps me get to know the kids.
Enjoy!
This is a worksheet that I assign for homework after the students have learned about the difference between mixtures and solutions.
I market it to the kids as "The Great GORP Recipe Contest," and then the students vote on their favorite recipes, but I leave that decision and process up to you.

This is a rubric that guides students in creating a poster that displays their knowledge of plant and animal cells. It could be used as a center, homework, a project, etc.
Directions:
Give each student a survey to fill out, then recollect all of them.
During “downtime” (waiting to line-up for lunch, transition time, etc.) pull out a random “Guess Who” paper, use a suspenseful voice to read off the information slowly, as students quietly try to think of which student is the “Guess Who?”
When all of the information has been read, give students to opportunity to guess who the mystery student is!
My students LOVE this game and are always asking to play it.
