This is a list that I post near the door in my classroom, so that students know which bus they are on, and what days they go to the after school program. I laminate them, then write names on with a black Sharpie. If something changes, I use a lysol wipe to remove the Sharpie.
I teach fifth grade. On the very first day of school, I put this two-sided survey on their desk with a sharpened pencil. The minute kids come in, they get started on filling it out.
I use this valuable time to take attendance and make sure everyone is in the right room, as well as the correct seat.
Later, I have a some great information that helps me get to know the kids.
Enjoy!
Directions:
Give each student a survey to fill out, then recollect all of them.
During “downtime” (waiting to line-up for lunch, transition time, etc.) pull out a random “Guess Who” paper, use a suspenseful voice to read off the information slowly, as students quietly try to think of which student is the “Guess Who?”
When all of the information has been read, give students to opportunity to guess who the mystery student is!
My students LOVE this game and are always asking to play it.
