This is a complete novel study to use while reading The Cay. I print out the notebook for each student and staple all the pages together (you can distribute pages daily if you wish). This interactive notebook includes: prewriting activity, daily reading journals, chapter discussion questions, reading quizzes, a word search to use with vocabulary from the novel, vocabulary chart, a study guide, a graphic organizer, and a final assessment.
I use this rubric when I conduct notebook checks for students in middle school. It is then counted as a classwork grade, but feel free to use it as you wish!
