I have been teaching in the intermediate grades, as both a general classroom teacher, as well as a special education teacher. I have used a variety of programs and learning approaches throughout my career. Like many, I have often worked in places where there has been a lack of resources to support state standards or district initiatives. Math Facts Game: Who Has My Number?
This fast paced math fact game requires students to use basic recall of multiplication and division facts. The instructions are simple. Just give each student 1 card (or 2 for a challenge if you have extra cards). Choose a student to begin by reading the fact that appears on his card. The other students must listen to determine if they have the answer that matches the previous student's card. I so, that student gives the his correct answer, then reads the fact from his card. Teaching style
Hands on, cooperative learning approaches seem to be what I gravitate towards. However, I think using a variety of styles in lesson planning is beneficial to the students.
