Students glue the column headings into a notebook. Then students cut and glue the cards at the bottom, deciding if the card is an example of a topic or an example of a main idea. This has two easier to read stories, one is a fairy tale and one is adapted from Aesop's fables. Students read the text and mark the parts of the plot. They could transfer information to a plot mountain if they wanted. There are 4 questions with each text.

This is a set of 42 cards and an answer key. This is a paired activity with 3 word problems each. Each question is differentiated as the student chooses which numbers they will use in the problem. In a rally coach student A solves their problem with the help of B and then B solves his/her problem etc. down the line. Students use one paper and one pencil. To send this activity home one just needs to cut the paper in half.
