This one-page document includes a student self-check checklist and a scoring rubric. Students first check their own work after conferencing with a peer, to make sure their paper includes all of the requirements. Then, the teacher uses the rubric to grade the writing task based on the following criterion:
*conventions: capitalization, punctuation, sentence structure
*spelling: grade-appropriate spelling and grammar (verb tenses)
*content
*introduction/conclusion
*effort
*CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.A.1
Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.
*CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.A.3
Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Students will use gummy worms to estimate and measure their lengths in inches. When I taught this lesson, the students used a 10" ruler. This is a free document that is also available in my store!
