I am a second year teacher in a regional life skills program. My heart is in special education - there is something so real and genuine about the vibrant students in special education.
I use this chart with a few students in my Life Skills Class to reward and deescalate certain behaviors. My students seem to respond well to it. The file is able to be edited to best serve other students.
This is the daily planner I use with my life skills students to promote daily reflection, and to establish routine. The home connection with parents and guardians is bolstered by requiring a signature and optional comments.
This is an editable welcome letter for parents and guardians. I usually hand this out on back to school night or on the first day of school. Parent involvement and communication are key! Areas that are highlighted in red are areas that need to be edited to suit the needs of each teacher.
I send this worksheet home with my students on the first day of school. When students return their forms, students share their interests and hobbies with each other. This is a great ice-breaker that promotes reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Visual representations help students who need extra literacy support. Best of all, I get to learn a little more about each of my students. *This copy is able to be edited as needed*
This is the daily planner template that I use with some of my life skills students. Students are able to practice fine motor skills through handwriting, comprehension skills through selection of visual representations, and metacognition and recall skills. I love using this to help establish routine and promote reflection in my classroom.
This daily planner template is able to be edited as needed. It encourages students to reflect on their school day, and promotes a home/school connection with a parent/guardian signature and assignment section. The visual representations allow students who need extra support to follow along and complete the form appropriately. I use this daily planner each day as a way to close the day, reflect, and communicate with home as needed.
