Experience

I’m an educator with experience teaching upper-elementary and middle grades in a Title 1 school community, with a focus on character education, science, literacy, and digital awareness. I design discussion-based lessons that guide students to think critically, collaborate respectfully, and make informed choices. I’m currently transitioning into school librarianship to support students, teachers, and families through meaningful media literacy and digital citizenship learning.

Teaching style

My teaching style is warm, reflective, and student-centered. I believe learning happens through conversation, curiosity, and authentic connection to real-world issues. I create resources that encourage students to engage thoughtfully with information, communicate clearly, and make responsible digital decisions — without overwhelming teachers or adding extra prep time.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of my proudest teaching moments include helping students lead a schoolwide climate justice project, guiding middle-schoolers as they presented original research to our community, and watching reluctant speakers open up during reflection-based class discussions. I value growth, not perfection — and seeing students develop confidence in their voices is the real award.

My own education history

I have worked as middle school science teacher for over 10 years, and currently completed my Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS) . My academic and professional learning is grounded in literacy, instructional design, media studies, and culturally responsive teaching. As I transition into school librarianship, I continue to expand my work in media literacy and digital citizenship—helping students, educators, and families navigate information thoughtfully, responsibly, and with confidence.

As a mother, teacher, and future school librarian, I care deeply about digital well-being and helping students navigate online spaces with empathy and awareness. I founded The MisInformed Library to create resources that support families and educators through reflection-based digital citizenship and media literacy learning. I believe every student deserves the skills to read the world — not just the text.
