This is my 11th year working with children on the autism spectrum. My students go into the inclusive general education classroom for most content areas using modified work. Most modifications I make include picture/visual supports to increase understanding and maximize student success.
My students created a Mr. Potato head using construction paper. They included a body, mouth, arms, eyes, ears, and nose. We then labeled the different body parts. We then completed a worksheet. Student completed sentences like "I smell with my _____". They used pictures to complete the sentences. There is a picture of the finished project completed.
This activity provides a template to help students write sentences about magazine pictures. This activity has over 200 boardmaker pictures for students to use to create sentences including descriptive words, people, places, time of day/year, and verbs. This activity helps students expand on their language, express thoughts/ideas about a pictures, and helps included s tudents with autism in the writing process in the inclusive classroom.
You will find a color coordinated graphic organizer and over 240 Boardmaker pictures to help students identify characters and setting in books. The character organizer and pictures are yellow and the setting organizer and pictures are blue. This helps teach students with autism the difference between characters and setting. The graphic organizer also has a line for students to write the title and author of the story. This will help them identify these major points in a story.
This is 10 writing frame worksheets to help students write opinion pieces. Each writing frame will require the student to state 3 reasons why they believe in something. The frames included easy writing topics including students favorite ice cream, movies, toys, etc.
Students can cut out various food items, then sort them onto the new food pyramid plate. The pictures are made from Boardmaker. The pictures are also paired with words to help students learn new vocabulary words.
Using Boardmaker pictures, students can identify the picture then write the beginning letter sound on the line provided. There are 6 worksheets. Each worksheet has 14 pictures for students to identify. The worksheets not only work on identifying beginning letter sounds, but increasing vocabulary by labeling pictures.

This is a 10 page comprehension packet to go along with the book Are You My Mother. Students will make predictions about the book, identify characters, setting, problem, solutions, sequence the story, determine character traits, and compare/contrast characters. This literacy packet includes picture answers for students with low comprehension for each section of the packet.
This product contains 3 differentiated levels of differentiation to teach students with disabilities how to alphabatize. The worksheets provide an alphabet line and visual pictures to help students independently alphabatize pictures/words.
This writing graphic organizer can be used for higher functioning students with autism. It helps students organize their thoughts when writing a story. The organizer gives them seperate columns to write who, where, and what is happening in the story.
There are 20 spelling cards for 10 different food items. Each food item comes with a card with prompts and one without prompts. The foods included are cherry, apple, banana, water, pizza, bacon, toast, cheese, carrot, and grape.
Each word card comes with a simple picture of the item at the food top. Below the pictures are individual boxes for each letter in the word. The word card with the prompt has a small letter written in each box, so the student can match letter to letter to correctly
