About the store
Although this is my 5th year in elementary school, I spent more than half of my career teaching middle school math. I've been an elementary math coordinator for the past 3 years, working with teachers to improve instruction as well as working with struggling learners. In addition to teaching children, I lead staff development sessions in my school district and have taught sessions at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching [CAMT] in 2009, 2011, and 2012. These sessions generally focus on using cooperative learning and ESL strategies in the mathematics classroom.

Experience

Although this is my 5th year in elementary school, I spent more than half of my career teaching middle school math. I've been an elementary math coordinator for the past 3 years, working with teachers to improve instruction as well as working with struggling learners. In addition to teaching children, I lead staff development sessions in my school district and have taught sessions at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching [CAMT] in 2009, 2011, and 2012. Teaching style

Cooperative learning is, in my opinion, the best avenue to learning. When students collaborate, they learn to express their ideas and defend their answers in a way that solidifies what they have learned. For that reason, I use partner and group activities as well as hands on activities to teach.
