About the store
Welcome! I have enjoyed my time teaching in both elementary and middle school classrooms. In middle school, my content area was World History, Geography, and New Mexico History. I have a passion for providing successful inclusion opportunities for all students in an inclusive setting. In my years of teaching, I have had students reading two years above grade-level combined with students who can only read their names. I found success by merely focusing on how a child can participate to their fullest potential! All my lessons allow for easy accommodations while providing rigor for all students.

Teaching style

I believe teachers need to ensure they have a well-balanced approach to teaching in their classroom. Although teachers must teach the content, long lectures are not effective. I think the best lessons are when teachers introduce a lesson, idea, or background and then become the facilitator as students explore the task. Students should be active learners in the classroom through engaging lessons, where they all learn from one another.

My own education history

Bachelor's in K-8 Elementary Education (endorsement in Reading), Master's in K-12 Special Education, Currently working on Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Special Education (research focus: Inclusion)

Additional biographical information

Besides being a teacher, I am an outnumbered boy mom. My husband of 26 years and I have four boys who keep us busy. Our third son had several disabilities due to a cancer diagnosis as a baby. We worked hard for him to experience inclusive opportunities. Therefore, my passion for inclusion runs deep, as it is both personal and professional!
