Friendship Bingo

This is a fun activity that gets your students moving around and interacting with one another. Unlike some "get-to-know-you" bingo sheets that just have room to mark if you've found someone for that square, this sheet includes lines for your students to write down names and something interesting about them, for example not just checking off that they've talked to someone who plays an instrument, but that Porohu plays the piano, and they like the same kind of music! This is a wonderful activity f

Long Vowel Practice: Colour By Sound

An essential part of reading and writing is identifying vowel sounds, but who likes rote memorisation with flashcards and quizzes? These activity sheets will let you learners practice differentiating between long and short vowel sounds in a variety of words while colouring sections of the page to reveal a picture. This resource includes one activity per vowel - five activities in total. Use as practice to help your students learn and/or as assessments to check in on what they understand. This

Ready to Learn Cards

These little checklist cards are a game changer! We all have students who are learning to self-monitor. Instead of reminding them personally or both of us getting frustrated when they forget their "basic" materials, I always have these cards available now for them to check themselves to make sure they have what they need. If you need alterations for the activities in your classroom, please let me know, and I'm happy to add cards to the set!

Word Mats for Early Writers

These word mats work equally well as inspiration and as mini spelling reference sheets for beginning writers. There are multiple levels for the same topic, so your students can write about the same topic with a resource that is targeted to their abilities. I frequently create new word mats, and I take requests for topics! Please feel free to ask. Topics included in this resource: -- > Sport -- > Animals -- > Nature -- > Spooky Stories

Writing Checklists for all ages

These little checklists are used by students to self-monitor their editing process. Before they are finished a piece of writing, they make sure that they've done each of the things on their list. There are four different lists, easily colour-coded to differentiate for abilities: Pink for emergent writers, orange for Year 1, yellow for Years 2-3, and green for advanced Year 3 and up. This resource saves the educators time and gives the student much more agency by scaffolding their editing process

Writer's Block Busters - Sentence Starters

Sometimes we just need some inspiration for a creative "quick write." Teachers know as well as anyone that we can't just tell someone to sit down and WRITE. You need something to get those juices flowing. This is a bundle of five pages of silly and thought-provoking sentence starters to help your learners begin!

WH- Questions Practice 02

ESL, ESOL, and ESL students practice answering WH- questions. Students write the answer to the question and draw a picture next to their answer to reinforce understanding of each wh- word. Students should understand that "Who" asks about someone, "What" asks about something, "Where" asks about a place, "When" asks about a time, "Why" asks for a reason, and "How" asks for an explanation. This activity can be used as both practice and assessment.

Social Story: Back-to-School (post-lockdown)

I created this resource to support tamariki (children) returning to school after lockdown. It is general enough that it should probably work for any Aotearoa primary school. You can also send it to families to share with their children at home. If you need a small edit to make it work for your school, please let me know! I'm happy to do this for free. Leaving a rating would make a huge difference, allowing my resources to reach far more akonga (learners). Thank you for considering!

Yoga Yamas Reflections - NO PREP SEL Activity

Each page is a prompt to reflect on one of the five Yamas: 1. Ahimsa (Non-harming) 2. Satya (Truthfulness) 3. Asteya (Non-stealing) 4. Brahmacharya (Right use of energy or moderating the senses) 5. Aparigraha (Non-grasping) I've put each yama in kid-friendly language and given space to reflect in words, in pictures, or both. My kids yoga students really enjoy them. Please let me know how it works in your classroom! I'd love to see some examples. :-) I really don't mind if you share this resou

Morning Hui (Meeting) Agenda

This is a cute checklist I've made for my kids to have a visual representation of what we do each morning. I print this big and put it behind plastic; then I can use a whiteboard marker to check off each thing each day, rub it off after our hui (meeting), and use fresh the next day. The kaiawhina, or helper of the day, gets to check. This is something they absolutely love to do and that keeps them engaged, too! If you'd like a copy with any events added or subtracted, please feel free to comment

Kia ora/Hello! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Madeleine. My pronouns are she/her. I've taught all ages and am passionate about creating resources to help kids think carefully, get excited about learning, and practice the skills they need to make a difference for social justice. Please feel free to send requests! I really enjoy creating things that I know will be used and enjoyed by educators and learners. Also please remember that taking a minute to review a resource you've purchased gets you TPT cash and really helps us get the resource out to more people. Thanks very much!
