You are covered with this resource. It includes a PDF printable version as well as a Google Slides™ digital version for distancing learning and homeschool. These 18 math addition and subtraction puzzle worksheets make doing basic math fun and motivating. The critical thinking puzzles are targeted toward grade 4 and grade 5, but students older or younger can also benefit from them depending upon skill level. Students determine the values for the blank cells. This is done by recognizing that the value of a cell is made by adding the two numbers directly below it. Subtraction can also be used to help determine proper values. Once the cell values are determined, the numbers can be matched to letters in the Code box. The identified letters can be arranged to form the answer to a riddle.
These problems are great for quick self-starts, warm-ups, centers, groups, individual enrichment or productive time fillers. The PDF worksheets can be printed in color or grayscale with good results. QR codes are provided on the PDF version on each worksheet for immediate feedback. All that is needed is a device with a camera and a QR Code app. Full answer keys are included.
