This is a real world investigation for buying a car. There is a whole class activity and then it breaks into three groups high, average and low. There is a lot of problem solving using percents and different formulas. The students really enjoy it. I also bring in car books from Car dealers to make it more real... Have fun!

It's that time of Year for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). These ELA and Math practice test links are ready to use and print or display for students. Use them as warm ups, centers, in small group instruction or just as extra practice. Grades 3,4,5 - you can scaffold up or down depending on your students ability.

This worksheet uses Bloom's taxonomy to tier the work into three different levels. Students will get to do three of the 6 options to help pratice the skills of using and comparing decimals, percents and fractions. This could be used as whole class or as a learning center for the "I'm done, Now what student"

This is a good activity if you are teaching graphing. It helps them compare and graph two different sets of data on the same topic. I have done this with 6th graders but I think younger students could do it also.

This 7 page lesson can be used in math or science or both depending if you have a flexible schedule. Students will practice graphing, counting, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation to decide if they can tell by a pumpkins characteristics how many seeds are inside. Fun for students!!!

I would use this activity as an independent project. Perhaps as a teacher you need a couple extra days to re-teach a topic. Have the other students use computers to research and find a home for Pebbles and Bambam Rubble. Fun, engaging and independent.

This includes 6 fraction centers with hands on manipulatives and computer stations. Answer keys are provided and would be good for 5th grade. The centers could be used as whole group or as learning centers in the back of the room.

My students were struggling with elapsed time. This is a mini project that helps students relate time to real life. Each student gets a time of day and then they will make a time line and they can find the difference between the times.

This is a real world problem. Wendy's claims that there are 256 ways to personalize your hamburger. So I delivered the problem to my students and Wendy's is correct. By using Combinations students can solve this problem. This is a great extension for students who are ready to take the information to a higher level. Complete with Answer key.

This is an extension activity for decimal, percents and fractions. Three activities with answers. It brings the real world into your classroom.

These are 5 centers created to make time to meet with smaller groups of students. Now, I can meet with below grade level students for a re-teach or above grade level for an extension while the students are working on these 5 math centers. The math pass created will help to manage students who have completed each of the activities. Feel free to edit.

This is a multi step independent project in which a student who is done early could go work on. Check on the student once in a while and be sure to answer their questions. This comes with an answer key and is meant for middle school math. There are components that deal with research, hands on building and problem solving. This could be for the students who may have their own pacing and finsh a unit faster than others...

These centers were created to help reinforce how to use a ruler (centimeters and inches). There are 4 activities that have students measure different items and build a structure based on some measurment guidelines. There is also a cool ruler game that students could go to if they finish early. You could use it for a one day class period and have students rotate every 10 minutes or as learning stations set up in the back of your room during a measurment unit for students who finish early. This is a project that asks the students to create a new milk carton that has the greatest volume and the least surface area... Complete with student recording sheets and rubrics. Students need to present their findings to the class, group work or individual.

This game has 30 multiplication questions. Students start by all standing, the teacher starts with I have 6 x 3 and then the student will have a card that says I have 18 who has 7 x 7 and so on until they are all sitting down. It takes about 5 minutes but the facts they practice are great. I like to time them and see if we can beat our previous time. This works for grades 3 - 7 or is great for a transition between classes.

This is a project that could be used in grades 6 or higher. It will take some time and research to solve this investigation. You could use this for a student who has pre-tested out of some material or for a group of students that seem to finish quicker than the rest of the class. This also provides a challenge that our parents want. :)

This Bitcoin Project can be used for enrichment for grades 6,7 and 8. Use Bitcoin values to convert to currency amounts. Explore Bitcoin a bit more and while looking at percent increase and proportional relationships. This could be used as a long-term project that students work on.

I have reviewed the ISBE websites and put together a power point that will help teachers understand what is important for the ISAT test in Illinois. There are valuable links and information. It really helsp teachers to understand the Extended response rubric.

This assingment has three options. Basically they need to figure out how much it would cost to bake world record size foods. It also has a home edition for the parent or student who wants more homework. (I do get that request...weird huh!) You may need to have your student bring in grocery ads. :)

This is a good intro. to probability. I used this for third graders. This includes a lesson plan: listing materials, procedures and tiered homework for high and low students. There is 2 whole group activities and then small group and then individual worksheets.
