The Romans used a different calendar than we do, but ours is based on theirs. Some social studies teachers are put off by the many complex explanations of the Roman calendar found online and don't want to teach it. This is a SIMPLE explanation of the ancient Roman calendar for busy teachers.........with ideas and practice tips for teaching a successful lesson on it so students can do their own conversions from our calendar dates to the ancient Roman calendar. Ideal as a problem-solving skill lesson or for gifted students, it is challenging but students can be successful and they feel great when they finally get it!
