This is a lesson plan which includes three highly engaging literacy activities using the book Unlovable by Dan Yaccarino. These lessons will help students define meanings of unknown words, analyze the main character and identify acceptable traits for that character, and determine the theme of the story and write about it using evidence from the text. This lesson plan provides vocabulary frames, character traits, and possible plot points and themes. It also provides direct correlations to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) along with step-by-step instructions for each activity.
