Description
The Common Core State Standards in Mathematics emphasize the mathematical practices, which should be thoughtfully integrated in appropriate ways, not taught as a separate set of skills. These important habits help define rich mathematical tasks/problems that students can engage in and develop mathematical literacy.
The following task cards are an engaging way to utilize the mathematical practices in the classroom, as students encounter rich tasks and problems. They can be used before and/or after working on a problem.
Each set of cards focuses on a different mathematical practice. These task cards are designed to be used after solving a problem. There are 42 task cards altogether (6 for each practice). The cards can be used for: modeling the practices, in a small group, at a center or station independently, with the whole class, or as discussion prompts.
