Description
This unit was created out of a need to find ways to practice reading and writing skills in a way that would interest my students. I teach students with disabilities in a school that follows an inclusion model. Students with IEP's are all in the general education classroom more than 90% of the time. I work with small groups of students focusing on areas of deficit and am always looking for short mini lessons that I can deliver and then have students work with new skills.

This unit is designed to work within a 30 minute time frame. Students work with the skill of making inferences, using visualization, practice the writing process while learning about a science experiment.
My students loved the unit and I hope you find it useful too! You can make adjustments to fit your classroom and the lesson plans are detailed in order to take the stress off of you so you can focus on the teaching and assessing your students.
Enjoy!
