About the store
I have been teaching three levels in Language Arts (9, 11, and 12) for seven years. English 9 is a comprehensive look at language arts. This includes reading (To Kill a Mockingbird, House on Mango Street, Romeo and Juliet, and many supplementary stories, articles, poems, etc…), writing skills, grammar, and speaking. English 11 is a course in American Literature. The class mainly focuses on reading skills, with writing and speaking used to supplement. English 12 is a language arts course for technical/business writing and reading. The students are usually lower in skill level and work with practicing practical writing and reading. I've attended various conferences, including a national conference in Nashville and writing conferences in Ann Arbor and New Orleans. I look for new ways to hone my craft at any opportunity.

Teaching style

I try to accommodate as many learning styles as I can. Therefore, my classroom activities vary in style and format. I include different projects, test styles and writing genres to meet the educational needs of all my students. I am constantly looking for and revising new and existing lesson plans. I don't teach to a textbook in any of my classes, so I have to create or use existing materials for my classroom.

My own education history

I have a bachelors in English Education, a minor in Philosophy and a Masters in Professional Education. I've not only studied literature around the world, but also have studied the craft of teaching and the philosophies of the world.

Additional biographical information

Aside from teaching, I have two kids and have an addiction to popular culture. I love reading all types of literature, watching all kinds of movies and listening to all types of music. I incorporate popular culture into my teaching when I can.
