Description
Dot cards can be used as a quick activity during any time of the day or as a Math Work Station! Students can either: match the dot card to a numeral card, flash the cards to each other and quickly identify the cards, count the dots and identify the numbers or make numbers using the dot cards.
There is two sets of dot cards: plain black, and red and blue cards. The red and blue cards can be used to make numbers. For example, if a student has a dot card with the number 5 they can say "3 and 2 make 5".
This packet includes:
- Directions on how to use Dot Cards
- Black Dot Cards (up to the number 10)
- Red/ Blue Dot Cards (up to the number 10)
- Numeral Cards (up to the number 10)
- Making numbers recording sheet
The Dot Cards can also be used when students are learning how to make numbers. Using the red and blue dot cards: flash the dot card to the student. First have the student identify the number on the card. Then, have the student tell you (using the red and blue dots) how to make the number. Use the example on the following page for reference!

This is perfect for counting the dots and matching its number but also you can use it for subsidizing --finding all the different ways to make a certain number. My kids love manipulating these cards but putting snap cubes (red/blue) on top and then creating the same color trains and creating number sentences (___ red and ____ blue = ____). The activities are endless with these cards. I have not done it but by brainstorming you can pick two cards and create an addition problem. Or you can compare two cards to determine which one has more or which one has less.
