Description

In my family, a rule of thumb is “We don’t talk POLITICS.” This is especially true during an election year! If you feel the same way about the classroom, I don't blame you.

I feel like I need to be very careful during election season.

Who wants an annoyed parent? Right?!?

This election is so contentious and controversial, that I find myself hesitant to update the portion that has the real candidates. Families and friendships groups are being divided because it would seem society has forgot we can disagree without being disagreeable. For this election, I recommend using the farmer and duck portion of this freebie and the high-quality non-fiction passages that teach what an election is and what it means.

That is why I have created this "Mock" Election unit.

There is no discussion of actual candidates in the Duck for President section of this freebie. This is the perfect unit for teaching about the election process and voting in a non-election year.

- - - However- - -

Some of us like to live on the wild side and plan to talk about the actual 2020 candidates. BRAVE and awesome!

I have also included everything you need to run a Trump vs Biden 2020 mock election in your classroom.

Here is what is in the Mock Election Duck for President unit:

  1. "Voting" fluency page (3 leveled choices)
  2. Farmer Brown and Duck candidates’ clip art for anchor chart
  3. Register to vote clip art for anchor chart
  4. "Register to Vote" as a member of the farm
  5. "Secret Ballot" voting fluency and ballot
  6. Graphing pages for the voting data ( tally graph, bar graph easy, bar graph harder)

Here is what is in the Mock Election 2020 unit:

  1. "Voting" fluency page (3 leveled choices)
  2. Trump & Biden candidates’ clip art for anchor chart
  3. Register to vote clip art for anchor chart
  4. "Register to Vote" as a member of the community
  5. "Secret Ballot" voting fluency and ballot
  6. Graphing pages for the voting data ( tally graph, bar graph easy, bar graph harder)

I love to add pages to my freebies based on your requests. The only way I can tell you I added amazing new learning activities to a freebie, is to click follow. It's the green star up top.

Happy Voting.
