Description

I am so excited to share my fall math journal with you! These are strictly "autumn-themed" pages, no Halloween. The skills featured are: patterning, grouping sets, counting, writing numerals, introduction of even/odd, comparing sets (most/least) simple addition with pictures and writing equations. This set includes 20 different joural pages and a cute cover. My students love math journals! I have always used strips that students glue into a spiral for math journals until recently. I love having a thematic monthly journal even more because at the end of the month, it goes home for parents to see and review concepts with students! Parents can see student skill practice and progress easily. I simply staple mine into a book but you could bind them in a variety of ways. I always add literacy to everything I teach. I have students find and highlight(with a yellow crayon) certain words, like color and/or number words. I base my approach on my current students and their level of skill/need. I strongly believe in challenging students so I modify as needed. If you have any questions or have suggestions, please let me know! I appreciate your feedback! Please follow me on TPT, on my blog @ www.oursmartcommunity.blogspot.com or on my website @ www.mrsweyhersclass.com
Enjoy! Kristine Weyher

Your math journal has great ideas that I can use with my kindergarten and grade one class. They easily can be adapted to make them open-ended questions to provide more challenge. My only suggestion: provide pictures for the questions that require more drawing adeptness as I find my students will often tell me, I can't draw _________. Thanks so much!

I really appreciate your feedback. I usually teach math journals whole group with the smart board so I can demonstrate how to draw items using simple shapes. I understand that would be difficult if you don't have that type of technology though.

Very cute and fun for the kids! The prompts could be a little more challenging, but still a great product!
