Description

This is a complete semester of Forensic Science Lesson plans typed out as daily lesson plans but in a week by week format for 18 weeks plus BONUS weeks!! I have taught this course now a total of 15 times and have built it from the ground up at my high school. I now have 2 other colleagues in my building who are following my plans in teaching this course and it has been very successful and fun! These plans have been updated from my previous listing.

Each lesson contains the following:

  • Bell Work
  • Objective
  • Activities
  • Homework
  • A place to record reflections

There are many materials that have been very helpful to me in the teaching of this course, the list below is some, but not necessarily all of the materials used (note, these need to be purchased separately from Wards or Carolina):

Basic lab equipment (microscopes, rulers, hand lenses, beakers, dissection equipment, etc.)

Textbook- Forensic Science (an Introduction) by Saferstein

Labs materials that I purchase:

Fingerprinting supplies

Impression Evidence supplies (casting material, spatula, tire casting kit)

Odontology Lab (Wards or Carolina)

Frozen Rats, small dog cages

Blood Spatter Analysis (Wards)

Blood Typing (Who Dunit- Wards)

DNA Fingerprinting practice lab and Who Dunit Lab (Edvotek on Amazon)

Luminol

Presumptive Testing for blood (Wards)

Cow Blood (Sterilized to use for luminol demonstration)

Hair Analysis slides

Fiber Analysis Lab (Carolina)

Ballistics Lab (Wards)

**Please note that these are lesson plans/unit plans and NOT actual labs, worksheets, etc.

You may contact me at any time for clarification or help, ideas, and my PowerPoints and other teacher created Forensic items are available for purchase on TeacherspayTeachers.com.

I'm not sure why this was an exe file, but it meant I was unable to open it on my work computer, where I really needed it. I wish I had read the description better

Select a product with pacing and content in a non-executable file.

I just really misunderstood the purpose of buying something expensive like this would be to have things to open and use not just more ideas that I have to create on my own, in my opinion

I'm sorry, these are a semester of lesson plans. Many of the labs that I use are copyrighted. I try to price my items by how long it takes me to create everything. Hopefully you will gain some new ideas or if this is a new course, this will give you a road map. I once paid $75 for a set of plans, but it was a big time saver.

These lesson plans helped me prep for the year, although I found it weird that it lacked a couple of things that must be taught in the course. I have added a couple of things to my course from your lesson plans that aren't in mine that my students are looking forward to. Thank you.

Poorly formatted. Not sure why this was stored in a .exe file? The word doc containing the weekly plans could be formatted into a table to make it easier to look at. Although it would be nice to have more materials included, most of the resources are at least referenced. For what it's worth, this resource is a helpful tool for someone starting out teaching the course or seeking guidance with a curriculum/sequencing. However, I don't see it worth the cost as is - some improvement with clarity, organization, and accessability would help make this more worthwhile.

I'll have to revisit this, it was stored zipped together because of the multiple documents. I try to price things based on the time it took to create the product. These plans are just that, plans. A great place to start if you haven't taught the course before OR looking for some different ideas. Typing up a semesters worth of lesson plans did take me several hours, and I paid $75 for a set of lesson plans many years ago when I taught a new course and was so happy to have that as a guide!

If you have a background in teaching forensic science this is a good start. Would have liked access to the activities, including bell work and exit work.

Many activities that I use in Forensics are not my own so I can't sell them with my lesson plans. My bell work questions I post on the board each day.

can't download due to issues of needing administrative passwords from my school to download this type of file. Is there a way to get this in a different format?

Correct, semester lesson plans only. Many of the activities and labs I purchased from Wards or Carolina.
