This is a fun activity for students to relate to the novel through slang. They learn what slang and colloquialisms are and they recognize them in our society. Then they look at 50's slang from the novel, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and give the modern day slang for each. They add to the list as the novel goes on.
