A lab using play-doh and other small materials to show how minerals occur inside rocks. Students each create a rock using the materials provided and then trade rocks with a classmate in order to evaluate the other person's rock using a cross-section. All directions and lab sheets are provided.

I have taught for 16 years in a large, urban, public school district (I have taught in three different schools) and I LOVE it! I taught self-contained, multi-age gifted class for past seven years. Prior to this assignment, I taught regular ed 4th and 5th grades. I am now in an at-risk school teaching 5th grade! I am so lucky to have such great students, past and present!
